Tequila? Jello shots? Is that even possible?
Tequila is not something anyone would normally think of when named in the same sentence as “Jello shots,” but here we are! We, at Tequila Travesuras, have made this seemingly impossible combination possible!
So, do you want to know the secret? Do you wish to learn how to make Jello shots with tequila? Then, keep on reading!
A Pretty Good Combo
Yes, tequila with Jello makes quite a bombastic duo! And it is a good change from those boring old vodka Jello shots. The recipe is almost similar, too, except, of course, we are using tequila instead of vodka. We are also going to finish off each shot with a pinch of salt and a small wedge of lime placed on top of each shot.
Did you pull out your sipping glass? Well, it is not going to be of much use here. You will need a tequila shot glass for this one. We have something else for your sipping glass: our very own star, Mango Infused Tequila. Anyway, let’s get back to the topic. To take the tequila Jello shot, grab the lime wedge and squeeze it over the shot so that the lime juice drips all over. Then, throw the shot down your throat! Wham! The tequila and the lime Jello actually pair nicely with the lime juice. The salt ties the whole ensemble together.
Ingredients Required
• 1 cup boiling hot water
• 1 cup Tequila Travesuras Blanco
• 1 packet of lime Jello
• Dash of salt over each shot
• Half a slice of lime for each shot
Directions

1. Bring a cup of water to a boil. We suggest using an electric kettle because they are fast!
2. Get a good mixing bowl. It would be better if you choose one with pouring lips. This would definitely make it easy to pour into shot glasses. To the bowl, add 1 cup of boiling water and then stir in a box of orange Jello. Stir until all the Jello is dissolved, which will take about a minute.
3. Add 1 cup of cold liquor, and stir for an additional minute. Scientifically speaking, the shots will solidify better in the refrigerator if your liquor is as cold as possible when you add it to the boiling hot Jello.
4. Now you are ready to pour some Jello shots! Pour the mixture carefully into small shot glasses. If you do not have them, use little plastic shot glass cups. Do it carefully! You do not want to burn yourself! It may help to move the Jello into a small, more manageable container at this point, from which to pour the shots.
5. Chill for 3-4 hours. To serve, place a half of a tiny lime wedge on top, and sprinkle with salt. To consume, squeeze the lime over the shot, then take the shot and squeeze it into your mouth! Tequila Lime Jello shots to the rescue!

FAQs
Q1. Can I use flavored tequila instead of Blanco for Jello shots?
A1. Yes! Flavored tequilas—like mango or strawberry—can add an exciting twist. Just make sure the flavors pair well with your Jello choice to avoid overpowering or clashing tastes.
Q2. How far in advance can I make tequila Jello shots?
A2. You can make them up to 3 days in advance. Keep them covered in the fridge to prevent them from drying out or absorbing fridge odors. Always serve chilled.
Q3. Can I make these Jello shots without using glass shot glasses?
A3. Absolutely. Plastic shot cups or even silicone molds work well. They’re safe, disposable, and make cleanup easier—especially if you’re prepping for a party or large gathering.
Q4. What if I want a stronger shot—can I use more tequila?
A4. It’s possible, but risky. Using too much alcohol can prevent the Jello from setting. Try ¾ cup tequila + ¼ cup cold water for a stronger but stable mix.
Q5. Can I use a different Jello flavor besides lime?
A5. Definitely! Orange, watermelon, or strawberry Jello pairs well with tequila. Lime is classic, but feel free to experiment with bold combos to match your party theme or taste.
